Our Opportunity:

The Treasury Capital Markets group within Corporate Treasury manages fixed-income investments in several portfolios totaling over $150 billion in assets primarily for the benefit of Charles Schwab Corporation, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., and Charles Schwab Bank.

As a member of the Treasury Capital Markets group, you will play a key role in analyzing and executing trades in various fixed-income instruments while seeking to optimize portfolio returns within the corporate policy, risk, and regulatory framework. Active sectors for this position currently include Rates, Agency and Private-Label CMBS.  You will also provide backup to other portfolio managers and traders in Corporates, Agency MBS, and ABS.  Furthermore, you will be responsible for monitoring trade settlements and performing trade entry. Contribution to portfolio strategy meetings and other projects as assigned in support of department goals and objectives will be expected.

What you’ll do:

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Managing portfolios to enhance yields within acceptable risks and liquidity requirements
  • Managing portfolios within the context of total balance sheet management
  • Contributing to investment strategy decisions and presentations
  • Contributing to interest rate forecasts and ALM modeling scenarios
  • Monitoring trade settlements after input to Treasury workstation and/or trade blotter
  • Leveraging technology and analytical tools to improve the portfolio management process

What you have:

  • A knowledge of fixed income capital markets
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Experience in trading, investing, and securities operations preferably in a trading desk environment
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg and other investment software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and management skill with the ability to build cross-organizational relationships
  • Ability to maintain broker relationships and negotiate trade executions
  • A minimum of 2- 7 years relevant experience including Money Market investing
