Our Opportunity:

This position provides the right candidate with a unique opportunity to join the Central Finance Capital Planning team to develop P&L forecasts and support scenario design process for the company. The scenarios and forecast serve as a key input in how Schwab measures the adequacy of its capital position for regulatory-mandated Dodd Frank Act Stress Test (“DFAST”) submission documents. This position will work with teams across Schwab’s Finance organization, including Treasury, Asset-Liabilities Management and Risk.

What you’ll do:

  • Model Schwab’s profit & loss financial statement under both Federal Reserve-mandated and internally generated stress scenarios.
  • Perform analyses on past, current, and proposed economic scenarios to develop forecasts for key revenue drivers such as client accounts, asset flows, deposit balances and client trading activity.
  • Prepare presentation materials and analytics to support the review and discussion process for formal approval of key assumptions with Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Support the organization’s risk and control self-assessment process, working with Central Finance team, Risk Management and various auditing and oversight functions.
  • As needed, work with the Regulatory Liaison Office in communicating with regulators on all Capital and Stress Testing related topics.
  • Participate in projects as required for new initiatives, process improvements or technology implementation and development.
  • Develop documentation for all models to ensure management’s understanding of operation, purpose and outputs of models.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of financial planning and analysis experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the banking industry preferred
  • 3+ years developing and/or validating financial models
  • Previous experience with CCAR/DFAST and/or regulatory capital reporting is a plus
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Sound business judgement and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Proactive self-starter and team player who can work well in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment
  • Knowledge of IBM Cognos TM1 or similar database/OLAP tool is a plus
