Our Opportunity:

Our application provides critical surveillance capabilities to its clients and is required to store and process sensitive customer data including trades, positions and account numbers. The Staff Data Operations Analyst is part of the Compliance Solutions team reporting to the Sr Manager of Data Operations.  

What you’ll do:

This candidate will be responsible for special projects within and across teams that are not repetitive in nature and will require the candidate to draw upon previous technical and analytical experience

The candidate will need to gather and analyze data to identify problem areas, investigate issues, determine root causes and repair problems or build efficiencies, utilizing tools such as SQL and various scripting languages like Python and Perl

The candidate will require technical skills to design and develop operational/data analytics utilizing tools such as Splunk and Tableau; proficient enough to drive implementation and be the primary knowledge owner of these toolsets

The candidate will be responsible for working as a variable team member of the agile scrum teams representing data operations interests and expertise for user stories that have a heavy data operations focus or for reporting metrics on new functionality

The candidate will need to analyze complex financial data and have an understanding of the various products that are commonly traded by individual investors in order to serve as a point of contact for data related inquiries.  Knowledge of the Financial Industry would be very beneficial

The candidate will need to provide assistance to the Client Service and Onboarding teams to assist in the definition of new requirements and processes, as well as to identify opportunities for process improvements, and to provide support for detailed analytical client inquiries

The candidate will need to perform as senior team member that provides first level oversight to ensure timely and accurate processing of data from brokerages, clients and vendors on a daily basis.

The candidate will need to perform UAT for Data Operations related functionality and lead cross team meetings to analyze results

The candidate will need to demonstrate strong communication skills in order to effectively work with cross functional teams and clients

The candidate will need to provide mentoring and direction to other team members with lesser experience

The candidate will need to organize and lead efforts to support the processes around our data sources, including leading meetings with outside vendors and clients and building strong working relationships with various vendors

This candidate needs to have the desire to develop into a leadership role in addition to being an individual contributor

 

What you have:

Bachelor degree in Information Management, Computing or Mathematics

4-5 years of experience in IT field, with the ability to understand system requirements/specifications of and the development life cycle

4-5 years of experience with file processing and troubleshooting

Proficient in using SQL tools for analyzing and troubleshooting data, including execution of SQL scripts and the ability to create efficient ad-hoc SQL queries for reporting and root cause analysis

Strong scripting skills in Windows and Linux environments: python, shell, awk/perl, find, sed to extract and combine information, fix problems, create efficiencies in performing daily tasks

Skills to provide FTP setup, support and troubleshooting for data transfer using protocols such as FTP, FTPS, SFTP and PGP encryption

Proficient in operational analytic tools such as Splunk and/or Tableau

Understanding of the Financial Industry and the different characteristics between financial products that are commonly traded by individual investors

Ability to communicate and document complex system behavior as it applies to data sources and writing enhancements and defects

Strong analytical and organizational skills are a must to be successful in this position.  In particular, the ability to multi-task while still paying attention to detail

The ability to exhibit confidence in his/her technical knowledge to collaborate with the development team when problems extend into areas requiring their involvement

Capability to understand complex systems at high-level view and the ability to drill down to details at lower levels to identify the root cause

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Technical Skills

Minimum 4 years IT experience

Minimum 3 years Data analyst experience

Minimum 3 years Data file processing experience

Minimum 3 years SQL querying experience

Minimum 3 years Database knowledge/experience

Minimum 3 years Programming experience

Experience with Agile Methodology

Minimum 3 years Splunk/Tableau experience

Minimum 2 years FTP configuration experience

Proficient in Excel and Word

Basic understanding of Firewalls and NAT
