This position is in support of Schwab’s digital innovation initiative that is focused on improving client experience during our new client onboarding process. Our goal is to modernize current process to provide the capability to onboard new clients in real time while increasing our ability prevent fraudulent attempts during the process. What you’ll do:
The technical engineer will be a hands-on developer that excels in a dynamic, fast-moving Agile environment and is passionate about developing high quality, high performant, and scalable software.
The successful candidate will be responsible for individual coding contributions in addition to collaboration with team members from multiple geographic locations to deliver high quality software. The candidate will work aside a team of seasoned engineers whose main objective is to maintain all aspects of the overall software development lifecycle and ensure the on-time, quality delivery of software product releases.
As a member of the scrum team you will be an active participant in the sprint planning, standup, and retrospective ceremonies. Along with your teammates you will be responsible for accepting stories into sprints and ensuring the acceptance criteria for each story is well understood. During the sprint you will collaborate with your team to ensure successful completion of all stories in the sprint as well as conducting any necessary demo’s.
What you have:
- 3+ years of experience successfully developing Java applications in a Linux environment
- 2+ years programming to SQL databases - proficiency with Oracle PL/SQL is preferred
- 1+ years working with Agile both Scrum and Kanban
- Experience developing web services – preferably REST services
- Ksh, bash, scripting experience is beneficial
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to rapid changes including learning new technology
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool-chain (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.)
- Test driven development and unit testing
- Financial Services experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
