Our Opportunity:

Charles Schwab Investment Management is responsible for managing the Schwab mutual funds and Schwab ETFs. CSIM manages over $300 billion dollars in money market, equity, and fixed income products.  he objective of the CSIM Technology QA Team is to drive high quality technical solutions through efficient and scalable test strategies for our systems and processes. The team also participates in the day-to-day support of CSIM applications. The CSIM Technology QA team plays an important role in ensuring that the CSIM user community has the tools it needs to manage over $300 billion in assets.

CSIM Technology is looking for a highly experienced manager who can help in establishing a QA team dedicated to CSIM. This Sr. Manager position reports directly to the Managing Director and will provide leadership for Software QA Engineers covering all business areas in CSIM including Sales, Marketing, Portfolio Management, Trading, Trading Operations, Finance, Performance, Policies & Controls team, and Technology areas including Data Strategy and Application Architecture.

What you’ll do:

The Senior QA Manager is responsible for:

  • The hands-on development and management of both full time employees and contractors, including the vendor relationships with partner firms.
  • Establishing and directing the strategic and tactical goals for the team, working with others at CSIM Technology to build a client driven technology organization improving the software quality, platform and technology service provided to the CSIM business.
  • Managing resource allocation to support on-going and future efforts

The QA team and its management are responsible for:

  • Establishing QA strategy and best practices to support continuous development and integration
  • Identifying appropriate testing tools
  • Developing, maintaining and executing manual and automated test suites and reporting test results
  • Gaining in-depth business knowledge to understand business needs and utilize the knowledge to identify testing priorities based on scenario risk levels
  • Holding and facilitating test plan/case reviews with Agile team members
  • Ensuring that validated deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements
  • Leading the tracking, prioritization and communication of defects
  • Implementing test practices, standards, and processes
  • Establishing fact-based measures of test efficiency, effectiveness, and product readiness
  • Estimating, coordinating, directing testing for multiple products/projects
  • Providing technical support and maintenance of existing systems
  • Updating management on QA-related status on projects and overall QA strategy rollout

What you have:

  • A university degree from a well-respected academic institution; advanced degrees in Information management, Computer Science, Business Administration and/or other professional certifications are a plus
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in systems development life cycle, with strong knowledge of QA procedures and methodologies and automated testing
  • Experience in managing full-time employees and contractors
  • Working experience in the financial services industry; asset management a plus
  • Extensive and solid experience in automated QA/testing and delivery of highly complex projects within the Agile framework
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze/provide technology recommendations to the business
  • Experience building and managing an automation suite with tools such as SOATest, QTP, Selenium, MS Visual Studio Coded UI
  • Works well with developers to design/analyze alternative technical solutions, test completed code and complete a smooth implementation with the business partners
  • Proficient analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Working knowledge of Agile Framework
  • TFS 2012 for backlog management, source code control, continuous integration (CI), defect tracking, Integration with MTM
  • Background and understanding of BUS and message queues, file transfer, and data delivery technologies
