Our Opportunity:

At Schwab, the Office of the CTO (OCTO) is responsible for defining, publishing and managing the way that Schwab delivers and run solutions for Schwab’s clients. The organization works with the thousands of technologists and the business to ensure that Schwab produces scalable, secure, high-quality product and operations. The Office of the CTO is organized into departments that are responsible for Enterprise Architecture, Application and Platform Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, the Delivery Experience, and Technology Strategy.

Reporting to the VP of Technology Strategy, the OCTO Chief of Staff is responsible for supporting the OCTO leadership team through the management of organization objectives and priorities. Success is defined by the data-driven management and recognition for these priorities, leveraging the entire OCTO team and the Schwab technology organization. This critical role will have the primary responsibility for assembling and maintaining the organizational strategy, including functional objectives, talent management and financial tracking.

What you’ll do:

  • Champion project management rigor and provides the processes, structures, and tools for management of OCTO work streams
  • Manage the year over year and incremental priorities for the OCTO organization
  • Manage leadership operating rhythms for the OCTO organization
  • Analyze and identify budget trends and issues across all OCTO cost centers
  • Give advice and counsel leaders without owning the projects themselves in order ensure the steps, tracking and expectations are consistent. Supports initiative teams with skills in process excellence, project management, facilitation, problem solving, accelerating transformation and value creation to drive toward required outcomes
  • Surface capacity, pacing, resourcing issues and any other issues needing leadership attention
  • Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Partner with internal and external resources to establish an organizational change model/methodology and execute change management strategies and plans in support of technology transformation initiatives
  • Implement and manage critical operational/management dashboards for the OCTO
  • Develop executive presentations to convey cost improvement strategies, progress and investment opportunities

What you have:

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years technology and/or business operations experience
  • Strong/Proven project management skills and experience
  • Successful experience with Agile, specifically Kanban & Scrum
  • Open to industry, but required experience in large-scale, services-oriented, global business operating under compliance and regulatory requirements
    • Business functional expertise (e.g., Marketing, Finance, Operations, Compliance, Legal)
    • Executive presentations development and delivery experience
  • Familiarity with IT cost structures and funding mechanisms
    • Cost analytics and cost modeling
    • Multi-year investment business case development experience
    • Process analysis, modeling and implementation
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven track record of ability to communicate to multiple audiences
  • Leading expertise in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker with the ability to develop long term plans and effectively execute
