Within SRPS, the Plan Administration team is responsible ensuring timely and accurate servicing for 1000+ plan sponsor clients and 1.3 million participants.  The Document Services team is responsible for administering qualified defined contribution plans, providing document and consulting services for plans converting to SRPS and maintaining documents for clients who utilize an SRPS prepared pre-approved plan document.

What you’ll do:

The Senior Team Manager of Document Services will be a member of the Plan Administration leadership team and contribute in formulating the strategy and vision for Schwab’s Document Services team.  In this role they deliver on a set of initiatives to improve the client experience and/or improve operational efficiency, reduce risk to the organization, and maintain on-going service levels to plan sponsors and participants. 

Specifically, the Senior Team Manager of Document Services will lead a team of 7-8 document professionals in Richfield, OH, Phoenix, AZ and Austin, TX that is responsible for providing a seamless transition of plan document records to SRPS for new business conversions and ongoing maintenance of pre-approved plan documents to comply with regulatory requirements and client specific business needs.

In this role, the individual will:

  • Create and sustain an environment that provides near-perfect service to our client
  • Establish and deliver on goals for process improvement
  • Identify opportunities, recommend strategies, and design initiatives to improve client experience, business results, and profitability
  • Create and support metrics that document performance on our key objectives
  • Collaborate with client-facing teams to understand the needs of our clients and offer administrative solutions that meet the needs of clients as well as work for Schwab from an efficiency and risk mitigation perspective
  • Coordinate with client experience leadership to ensure we are designing new and creative solutions to exceed client expectations 
  • Represent Document Services on cross-enterprise initiatives
  • Network in the Retirement industry to gain insights and new ideas that can be leveraged by Schwab Retirement Plan Services
  • Mentor individual contributors and work with other department leaders to promote professional development

What you have:

  • This candidate needs 10+ years working in an operational and consultative leadership role, preferably in the retirement plan services industry with an emphasis on plan document drafting and regulatory compliance. 
  • The candidate must possess the following capabilities:
  • Proven leadership ability with experience leading teams to accomplish significant objectives
  • A continuous improvement mindset and experience with continuous improvement tools and programs
  • Proven client focus with demonstrated knowledge of plan sponsor needs and competitor products
  • Conversion, client management, project management, document drafting and operational experience preferred
  • The ability to drive the integration of business strategy and business practices
  • Experience with and understanding of how to leverage systems to achieve greater results
  • Proven ability to be highly collaborative and work cross-functionally
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills and strategic thinking capabilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize data and develop recommendations
  • Thought leadership capability
  • Results-oriented approach to business
  • ASPPA designations viewed favorably
