Our Opportunity:

The Global Data Technology organization is a highly skilled and passionate team that explores new ways to leverage our data as a strategic asset.  Through hands-on initiatives with our business partners we contribute to the company’s customer experience, revenue and profitability.  We are looking for a Managing Director with deep experience in developing Data Solutions across multiple platforms to lead delivery on a growing portfolio of projects.

 

What you’ll do:

The Director of Data Solutions will work with business stakeholders and external technology partners to deliver data engineering solutions on both traditional EDW / RDBMS and Big Data platforms.  As Director, you will lead teams of analysts and developers to deliver new functionality on the analytic data platforms.  This leader is expected to understand and manage delivery across a wide range of technical skills which include data integration (Informatica, Talend, Unix, Python, and Java) and data analysis and modeling skills (various SQL, ERwin).   This role will guide the team in understanding the strategic business drivers and influence solution design so it aligns to our long-range vision.  This role will help build and develop critical business relationships to drive confidence in our data capabilities.  This leader will also be expected to drive improvements across teams enabling high-performance.  Additionally, this leader will manage priorities, budgets, staffing and skill development across the organization.

In detail this leader will:

•Build and develop business relationships with our partners in the Global Data Office, our Analytics business unit, and the leaders on project initiatives.

•Assist team members in interpreting scope, estimating impact/work and approving the estimates for distribution.

•Update organization design to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the evolving data and partner requirements; recommend staffing changes and engage in all hiring decisions

•Lead a team of 1-3 FTE managers and their direct reports in addition to 5-7 direct report FTEs; provide feedback for individual development

•Advise on GDT technical decisions including architecture approach, solution design and detailed troubleshooting.

•Monitor and recommend improvements to the team’s SDLC while contributing to the team’s adoption of Agile Methods (Scrum &/or Kanban).

•Ensuring projects are progressing according to plan by resolving issues or obstacles.

•Building deep understanding of the warehouse data and capabilities.

•Build and develop business relationships with our partners in the Global Data Office, our Analytics business unit, and the leaders on project initiatives.

•Assist team members in interpreting scope, estimating impact/work and approving the estimates for distribution.

 What you have:

•Extensive experience as a People Leader

 

•Extensive experience, both hands-on and in management roles  in Big Data Hub / Data Warehousing / Information Management

 

•Project management experience/knowledge, with ability to drive projects to successful completion; ability to anticipate project risks/issues and propose creative solutions; solid experience and understanding of Agile Methods

 

•Prior experience interfacing with various partners, including executive business partners, vendors, offshore development teams, and internal groups

 

•Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, influencing, prioritization, decision- making and conflict resolution skills

 

•Excellent written/verbal communication skills and experience in presenting ideas, recommendations and status to executive audiences

 

•Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database constructs

 

•Demonstrate data curiosity and business understanding

 

•Demonstrated interest in learning about emerging data platforms and Big Data technologies
