Schwab Intern Academy is our centrally managed summer internship program that recruits juniors and rising seniors within a year of graduation. The design of the program invites interns to engage directly in Schwab’s culture of service, while challenging them with a blend of learning programs, team-building activities, networking opportunities, and enriching work projects. Features of our 2018 program include:

  • Business Track Project: Work with a Schwab organization that provides a meaningful and valuable experience to translate classroom learning into real business projects.
  • Intern Cohort Project: Partner with other interns to brainstorm, discuss learning experiences, and present solutions.
  • Learning Activities: Participate in facilitated classroom training, team discussions and events, individual assessments and activities, senior leader meetings, and on-the-job training.
  • Feedback Loop: Receive regular feedback from your manager, participate in career-related discussions, and provide your own feedback.
  • Strengths Application: Learn about yourself and how to apply your unique strengths, abilities, and goals to the work you do as part of Schwab’s ‘strengths-based’ culture.
  • Networking: Gain support by interacting with professionals across Schwab, including senior leaders, peers, and Schwab Intern Academy Alumni.

Because interns are considered a primary pipeline for full-time opportunities, every intern candidate must be eligible for full-time employment upon graduation and must also meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in a current undergraduate program tracking to a bachelor’s degree
  • Plan to graduate between December 2018 and May/June 2019
  • Can work full time and on-site at Schwab during the 9-week program (June 11 to August 10)
  • Have specific skills as needed by the hosting Business Track

Digital Advice Intern

Schwab is the industry leader in digital advice by delivering innovative and intuitive digital wealth management experiences through Schwab Intelligent Portfolios™ and Schwab Intelligent Advisory™. Also known as “Robo Advice”, this leading edge technology challenges the traditional way client’s financial needs are served. 

Schwab’s Digital Advice team is responsible for the ongoing product strategy, management, and innovative solutions that drive activation and growth of our “Robo Advice” solutions. The Digital Advice group is supported by all of Schwab’s business enterprises and works with a wide range of internal stakeholders including sales and service, business analysts, communications and marketing.

The Digital Advice Intern will be part of the team of professionals that is charged with defining, creating, developing and implementing new product enhancements. This role is exposed to, and communicates with, all areas of the company.  We are seeking an intern to support and execute on the digital product roadmap strategies to ensure key processes and interactions focus on elevating the client experience and growing the offers. 

Help with following key responsibilities:

  • You will build products and experiences which enhance Schwab’s digital advice offers and help to develop new ideas based on your interactions with stakeholders, customers and prospects.
  • You will spend time in the market to understand common customer problems and help find innovative solutions for our client base.
  • You may work with our platform development team to define product release requirements.
  • You may work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy.
  • You may also serve as the internal and external evangelist for our product offering.

What you have:

  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Self-starter mentality and ability to adapt to evolving market and client needs.
  • Curiosity to continually reevaluate existing designs.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to develop multiple solutions to the same problem and identify the failure mechanisms associated with each.
  • Effective relationship builder with the ability to partner cross-functionally, cross-enterprise and work effectively with various levels of the organization, as well as various personality types.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Currently enrolled in a Masters or MBA program.

  • You will gain a unique blend of business and product management savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.
  • You will learn how to analyze and understand highly complex business problems that are part of operating in the financial industry.
  • You will spend time examining and researching a client base to deeply understand the needs and wants of Schwab customers
