Our Opportunity:

The Risk Analytics/Modeling Senior Analyst - ALLL will be responsible for implementation and execution of Advanced Approach modeling for Schwab’s retail loan portfolios. The candidate will become an integral member of the Corporate Risk Management department as part the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL) team. The team utilizes quantitative models and comprehensive data analysis to assess the financial risk of the retail loan portfolios. Our team is looking for a Manager with a strong statistical background, extensive risk management knowledge and great communication skills to support the growing team in Chicago.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage implementation of Advanced Approach (AA) for ALLL team, including RWA calculations, portfolio segmentation and all other project requirements
  • Produce comprehensive data analysis for AA and other ALLL related projects
  • Support the delivery of the ALLL results with respect to strict deadlines for both capital stress testing and quarterly production cycles
  • Conduct model performance back-testing and produce related reports
  • Assist with documentation of quantitative processes and methodologies
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis for review by senior management
  • Provide material and support to auditors as necessary
  • Support process improvement initiatives

What you have:

The following qualifications are required:

  • A degree in a quantitative discipline with emphasis on financial and statistical analysis
  • 3-6 years of professional experience in financial risk management or a related field
  • Extensive experience writing code in SQL and R
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex financial and technical concepts to a variety of audiences
  • Extensive knowledge of financial risk modeling practices and concepts
  • Motivated, highly-engaged individual with critical thinking skills

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Advanced degree in quantitative discipline
  • Certification in a financial discipline such as CFA or FRM
  • Advanced ability using Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with fixed-income products, regulatory requirements and macroeconomic concepts
  • Experience with scripting languages such as VBA, SAS, MATLAB or EViews
