Our Opportunity:

Wealth Management Technology is part of the Schwab Technology Services organization and is responsible for delivering Robo-Advisor solutions used by Schwab Clients and Advisors. As a Senior Manager of Software Development for Intelligent Portfolios Technology you will provide leadership within the engineering team and for our business partners. This position will be responsible for leading a team in the delivery of high quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative and rapidly changing environment. It requires a highly motivated and focused individual capable of leading and building high performing innovative teams. 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and develop a team of high performing software engineers working on cutting edge technology in a new FinTech market segment
  • Lead the design and development of the next generation of Intelligent Portfolios solutions for Schwab Clients and Advisors
  • Drive continuous integration and deployment strategies leveraging tools like Jenkins with a DevOps philosophy
  • Be a champion of new ways of collaborating with technology and business partners
  • Foster the energy to search out and evangelize new and emerging technologies including open source tools
  • Influence and implement improvements and efficiencies in the technical aspects of the development process
  • Ensure the highest quality software is developed, delivered and maintained
  • Be a key leader in the agile process fostering collaboration, prioritization, team accountability and transparency

What you have:

  • 5+ years of enterprise software application project experience, with project management, resource management, and offshore vendor management capabilities
  • 3+ years of experience with running medium to large to complex projects with multiple dependencies
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to hire, guide, coach and grow exceptional technology teams
  • A visible leader that yearns for developing and motivating the next technology leaders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations
  • Experience in planning, implementation and support of business application components
  • Strong knowledge of the financial industry
  • Experience fostering an innovation culture and a thirst for technology innovation
  • Expert knowledge of software development, testing, maintenance and support
  • Professional experience building distributed scalable enterprise-class Microsoft .NET and/or Angular web applications
  • Experience managing and building a large, changing enterprise web development environment
  • Strong technology affinity and experience, as well as attention to detail and the ability to design, execute and maintain strategic goals and metrics
  • Broad and deep knowledge of software technology and trends
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum
  • Experience adopting continuous delivery concepts and techniques
  • Experience with hybrid and native mobile application development
  • Ability to communicate well with teams and leaders of the organization; have good listening skills, ask great questions and give feedback
  • A proven track record with continuous value delivery in an enterprise environment
  • A strong understanding of large enterprise organizational dynamics
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Masters in Computer Science
