What you’ll do:

We are looking for a self-motivated sales professional to sell and work with top-tier consultants as they actively pursue new defined contribution plan sales opportunities in the mid-market to increase assets under management.  As a Sales Associate, this individual will be responsible for prospecting, managing, and growing business in a designated territory, promote cross-engagement opportunities and develop relationships with key benefit/investment consultants.

  • Identify, pursue and sell to retirement plan prospects with an emphasis on mid-market ($10M-$100M) plans with an executive or management level focus
  • Achieve weekly prospecting goals
  • Identify larger market (>$100m) plan opportunities within assigned territory in order to introduce the Large Market Sales Professional.
  • Skillful leadership for orchestrating internal “team selling & presenting” for optimum sales effectiveness
  • Provide strategic insight, leadership and opinions on key directional issues and decisions
  • Establish and maintain contact/relationships with top prospects and consultants
  • Sales opportunity/pipeline development and management
  • Maintain up to date and accurate records, files, and critical data in sales data base (SalesForce)
  • Play lead role in managing sales process for all assigned sales opportunities
  • Play lead role in managing client retention efforts  upon request of RPS leadership
  • Perform/provide all required and requested documentation for active sales opportunities
  • Provide timely open/active opportunity updates to Sales management and RPS leadership upon request
  • Identify integrated benefits leads with other Schwab business lines  (i.e Stock Plan Services)
  • Understand and communicate the breadth of additional Schwab workplace services 
  • Effectively partner with the Business Acceptance and Proposal teams 

 

What you have:

  • Broad knowledge, experience, and demonstrated results/success in Qualified and Non-Qualified Plan/Trust administration, sales and marketing. 5+ years of proven mid-market sales experience in the defined contribution/non-qualified plan industry
  • Strong customer-focus, the ability to influence decision-making and a track record of exceeding plan sponsor and consultant expectations
  • Ability to work independently with oversight by manager; able to interact with different levels within the prospect/consultant organization
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments at a given time
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic individual who demonstrates a high degree of personal integrity, resilience, honesty and respect for others
  • Ability to connect with prospects/consultants and successfully position solutions
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage through issues
  • Display confidence, accountability, and professionalism with each interaction
  • Strong knowledge of competitors' products, services, sales tactics and weaknesses in the defined contribution/non-qualified plan industry
  • Strong knowledge of and experience building relationships with retirement plan consultants
  • Excellent communication, listening, interpersonal, presentation, PC, client service, and analytical skills
  • Strong sales and negotiating skills
  • Ability to motivate and work with sales support individuals
  • Overnight travel is required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; may have post graduate and/or certification
  • Series 7 and 63 licenses required
