Our Opportunity:

The Business Process Management Technology (BPM) team develops and supports various technology platforms in support of overall workflow solutions at Schwab. These platforms are mission critical, and integral to providing world-class service to our external and internal clients. The BPM Performance Engineer role is an opportunity to join an exciting and highly visible team at Schwab.  

What you’ll do:

  • Own the risk based strategy to ensure that our enterprise applications are compliant in terms of performance under load
  • Lead a team comprise of both on and offshore resources
  • Communicate testing strategy and results to our stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor junior team members on performance testing best practices
  • Drive a continuous improvement mentality to deliver robust performance testing strategies and methods
  • Educate and evangelize performance testing best practices throughout our development community
  • Represent performance engineering in our governance forums
  • Collaborate with development leads to ensure that critical functionality is identified for targeted performance testing
  • Lead team to meet expected performance testing within our release management goals
  • Analyze, evaluate and assess performance impact of both updates of existing technologies as well as adoption of new technologies 

What you have:

  • 8 years of technology experience
  • Deep understanding of software performance concepts, e.g. response time, throughput, resource utilization
  • Possess working knowledge of the following technologies:
    • HP Performance Center with Site Scope
    • Oracle (AWR's, OEM)
    • Distributed web architecture (Java Virtual Machines, Websphere, Vmware
  • Proven experience in defining and implementing performance a testing practice
  • Testing criteria, methodology, and data creation
  • Knowledge of what is required for meaningful test results
  • 3-5 years of work experience with different performance issues, and how to detect them
