Our Opportunity:

This is a highly technical role that requires above average organizational, communication and analytical skills. The successful candidate will focus on supporting our Batch Services functions for both mainframe and distributed applications; provide guidance and training for junior staff including offshore. 

What you’ll do:

Under the direction of the Test Environment Manager, candidate will:

  • Demonstrate expert level experience using the CA Workload Automation ESP scheduling tool
  • Provide expert level performance diagnosing batch abends both mainframe and distributed.
  • Perform hands-on setup of schedules using ESP
  • Demonstrate strong participation and leadership within the team
  • Increase support of the ESM application via TEMS Batch Services to establish production like processing in the test systems.
  • Mentor and train junior and new staff; create or improve best practice documents
  • Proactively track, find and report on root cause for batch issues
  • Recommend long and short term solutions for specific jobs to minimize repeating abends.
  • Collaborate with project and application teams for major batch initiatives  
  • Work closely with our offshore team to resolve problems encountered.
  • Track the Batch Services Work Request queue to ensure timely completion of requests
  • Cross train in multiple functional areas supported by TEMS.
  • Participate in the oncall rotation group.
  • Track and report on batch metrics

What you have:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • 5+ years using Enterprise Scheduling Program (ESP) software
  • 5+ years using DB2 SQL queries and using BMC tool
  • 5+ years using Remedy tool
  • Familiar with common build integration and automation tools like Jenkins and Bamboo
  • Strong leadership, communication and innovation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations
  • Strong technology experience, attention to detail and the ability to execute and maintain strategic goals and metrics.
  • Ability to lead a small team through a project; identify and describe elements of technical deliverables, estimate their duration and make adjustments to keep the teams deliverables on track.
  • General knowledge of Schwab’s CTS mainframe and distributed applications.
