Our Opportunity: 

Associate, Application Software Engineer 

Schwab is recruiting to hire a driven, results-oriented junior developer who shares our passion for technology, innovation and excellence. Our main goal here at Schwab is to transform people’s lives by changing the way the world invests. We are in the midst of re-architecting and rebuilding our core enterprise software platform to support our rapidly growing and evolving business. 

What you’ll do:

  • Participate in the design and implementation of RESTful web services, backend systems, and processes for our trading platform
  • Participate in various software engineering projects using advanced development patterns and component-based architecture
  • Actively collaborate with the team in ongoing product development, including design, development, review, integration, test, and deployment activities
  • Ability to be self-directed and able to work with an extended, distributed team to deliver products in a timely manner
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced development environment that continually embraces the latest technologies and      techniques
  • Utilize automated software test tools and frameworks such as test driven development to achieve software quality      standards

What you have:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Coursework and/or experience developing software in the .NET Framework and/or Java enterprise frameworks
  • Coursework and/or experience with C#, ASP.NET Web Forms, and MVC Development expertise with the Visual Studio IDE
  • Coursework and/or experience developing REST and SOAP-based Web Service APIs
  • Coursework and/or experience with distributed multi-tier applications, No SQL databases, and SQL is preferred
  • Knowledge of Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture (and the emerging MVVM)
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations
  • Recent and upcoming graduates with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related background are also invited to apply for this position
