Our Opportunity:

The Banking Technology organization provides strategy and technology partnership to Schwab Bank, the 14thth largest bank in the U.S. Our strategy and technology partnership ensures delivery of a best in class set of applications selected and designed to support key banking products and services for our clients. The application portfolio is a combination of SaaS and in-house developed applications. The Banking Technology Senior Manager will utilize superior leadership skills to guide the team in integration and delivery activities associated with a fast paced and challenging environment.   

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with Business organizations, vendors and internal technology organizations to ensure delivery and development expectations are met or exceeded and act as a liaison between business and technical teams regarding strategic issues.  
  • Manage a team of ~ 4- 7 direct reports and ensure the team delivers on complex IT projects, application enhancements and integration efforts, as well as, vendor production updates while maintaining high levels of availability.  
  • Demonstrate ability to evaluate and identify scope, objectives risks, drivers, issues and priorities associated with technical requirements, development, change control, testing, and deployment and implementation activities.   On time and within budget delivery while adhering to enterprise and departmental strategy, governance, architectural and design standards is a must.  
  • Build and grow working relationships with business and technology partners and work closely to negotiate prioritization, navigate integrated delivery schedules and provide appropriate risk mitigation and effective change control.  
  • Develop and maintain appropriate application documentation to ensure efficient knowledge sharing and support across the team that complies with departmental and enterprise documentation standards.  
  • Available for escalation as needed and ensures delivery meets application availability, security, protection of customer data, performance and maintainability guidelines and standards.  
  • Adhere to the standard departmental and enterprise standard components including Java, Oracle, PL/SQL and Angular JS.  
  • Responsible for staffing, hiring and allocation of resources across the prioritized work queue.  
  • Work closely with the MD and the organization’s leadership team in a highly matrixed environment to optimized and direct resources in effective delivery.  
  • Actively develop and cultivate team resources by creating an environment that fosters career development and growth, provide direction and mentoring for staff, actively coach and provide effective evaluation and performance direction.

Technical/Functional Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Related Technical, Math, Business or MIS 4 year degree
  • 8+ years of related experience in application development/engineering, project/program management and/or QA engineering with 5 years of direct staff management within two or more of the three disciplines
  • Strong expertise in risk management; disciplined approach to risk mitigation and change management
  • Experience in Agile Scrum development methodologies and automated testing tools a plus
